Hour of Power for Cancer Research

The girls pose after the finish of their Hour of Power relay on November 6th. This is the third year our team has taken part.

A couple of weeks ago, our team, amongst 90 other teams around the country and world did an Hour of Power, a relay in honor of former Carleton College swimmer, Ted Mullin who passed away in 2006 from a rare form of sarcoma.

You can read more and donate money to fund this type of research at the University of Chicago on Carleton College's website:

I saw a ton of other colleges and even some high schools did the Hour of Power. That's a cool idea; it's like the swimming version of "Relay for Life" which I've done a few times (for those of you who don't know what that is, it's a 24-hour walk around a track to raise money for cancer research).

How much did you guys raise this year anyway? I can't find any figures for it.

We're looking for swimming and diving content at my site actually, at www.collegefanz.com. It would be nice for non Division I football and basketball sports and athletic programs to be represented, so I'd like to extend an invitation to you to blog over there.

Your program would reach a larger audience there and it's very customizable! You can let all the fanz see pictures of the team and hear about your good work; there's just not enough swimming/diving stuff out there!

Take a look around the site and let me know if you think it fits you, or if you have any questions, at mgleeson@collegefanz.com

I hope to see you guys there; we already have a St. Catherine page waiting for you!
